TIME: 2245 HRS. LOCATION: TAMPINES MRT STATION.
I take the train from town back to Tampines. I notice a lady in a wheelchair in the same carriage as me. When we reach Tampines, her friend wheels her out. Even before I step out of the train behind them (with a sinking feeling in my heart) I know the scene that would greet my eyes-- they head towards the lift for disabled people, only to find it crammed full of freakin' able-bodied $ingaporeans who are seemingly oblivious to wheelchair-bound lady behind them. I was right.
And behold, as the lift-doors close, able-bodied $ingaporeans inside the lift and wheelchair-bound lady outside the lift are face-to-face with each other; a truly ironic sight.
Sometimes, I feel ashamed to be a $ingaporean.
