Yesterday was Day 2 of 'Fungi and Viruses - Friends or Foes?', a 2-day (9am-5pm) course held at DNA Centre in NIE. Not surprisingly, there was the usual barrage of complaints of how far we had to travel to get to NIE. The sign on the table at our teabreak said 'Fungi & Viruses Teabreak', hmmm... bon appetit. Will post some pics later.

Of course, what was more exciting was the launch (cum dinner) of the Vacheron Constantin 1972 Grande Cambre at The Pavilion at Shangri-la Hotel! It was organised by Singapore Vacheron Constantin together with Prestige Magazine. Joseph from East Spring Primary was kind enough to give me a lift back to Tampines after the course, so I was able to make it to Shangri-la in time.

An innovative way of showcasing the watches, mannequin-like hands! But they are alive! We were encouraged to touch, caress, explore; I never did get to see who the hands belonged to. Note the wonderful nail-art (Vacheron's logo is the Maltese Cross by the way):

Incredibly slender and graceful dancers from the Singapore Dance Theatre opened with a dance item wearing the watches on their wrists:

Going around for guests to examine the watches up close:

How can I not mention the food? Opening course was an interesting dish, a combo of seared tuna and raw tuna:

The main course, chicken. I had to ask Jenny, why not red meat, and she said she thought the same too, but after trying the chicken during the food-tasting session, she decided to go with the chicken!:

By now, had quite a few glasses of white wine. Dessert was excellent, chocolate fondue with strawberries and other berries:

Certainly a night to remember. Thanks to VC and Prestige!
