Nostalgic Neurons

Despite a conked-out LCD screen, my dodgy digital camera still managed to take a few decent shots of the official opening of Vacheron Constantin boutique at Ngee Ann City.
They cordoned off part of the space outside their boutique for use as a cocktail reception area. I had glass after glass of champagne. Glad to see a few familiar faces there as well.

Jenny (middle) was real busy that night.

This is too dazzling for my eyes. BLING!

Naturally, my best shot of the evening. Not bad for a digicam without LCD screen!

It's the official opening of the Vacheron Constantin boutique at Ngee Ann City this evening, so secured an invite since got the chance. Just to check it out. Pics will come, provided I can take good pics even with the screen of my digicam down.

I sold the Luminor Base to Stefan last night.
Now to wait (impatiently) for the Radiomir Base to arrive.

Was lucky enough to be invited to a presentation by explorer Mike Horn, on 21 June at the Arts House. Of course, this event was organised by Panerai and Richemont Singapore.

As taken from Mike Horn's 'dossier', which was included in the generous goodie-bag from Panerai:

12,500 miles (20,000 km) travelled on foot or on skis, in a sailing boat or in a kayak, to achieve the solo circumnavigation of the Arctic Circle: a feat which bears the name of Mike Horn, the South African explorer who has triumphed in the hard challenge of man against nature, achieving success by overcoming every kind of difficulty.

On 21 October 2004 Horn arrived at North Cape, the point from which he had set out on 21 October 2002, thus completing the long journey of the Arktos expedition and becoming the first man to accomplish such a feat.

What greeted me when I reached the Arts House entrance:

Familiar faces at the pre-presentation cocktail-- Tjeng Jaw (watch critic) and Alexandra Zoller (MD of Panerai Asia):

The function room was awashed in cool blue lighting, very appropriate for a presentation on a journey of the Arctic Circle! Check out the cocktail tables:

Mike Horn doing the obligatory poses before his presentation. He is such a HERO. And with good looks to boot. Nothing beats hearing from the horse's mouth! His presentation kept everyone spellbound. He suffered from serious black frostbite during his journey, but surprisingly, no signs were evident on his face or fingers; could be the wonders of reconstructive surgery:

The other 'star' of the event-- the watch which caught fire when Mike's gas-stove blew up in his tent! :

What it should have looked like:

A quote which touched me: Children require guidance and sympathy far more than instruction - Annie Sullivan.

Parents AND teachers should heed the above. I should constantly remind myself of that too.
