I am writing this down so I will remember what a nice Saturday morning feels like.

Saturday, Feb 18:

Had booked tickets for Brokeback Mountain at Cineleisure Orchard, 11am screening. I do prefer early morning screenings, cos there's still some of the day left ahead of you when you are done with the movie.
So woke up early, and took a cab to town at 9.20am; a bit kiasu perhaps, but hey, there must be time set aside for breakfast. Reached town by 9.45am (naturally, no traffic jam), so had lots of time to spare for breakfast.
Have always preferred Orchard Road in the mornings where there's much fewer people; I felt like a tourist then, cos it's only in a foreign city that one can be bothered to roam the shops so early in the morning by simply stepping out of the hotel. But where to go for breakfast? We just headed towards Centrepoint with no idea really, when we spotted a nice new-looking 'The Coffee Connoisseur' outlet that is located next to Centrepoint. I was never aware that an outlet existed there.
Now, I am more used to hawker centres for Saturday morning breakfasts, but since it's Orchard, we figured we might as well try TCC's breakfast menu. So we stepped in, and got a nice corner spot with spacious sofas. What I ordered: American breakfast set for $6.90 which came with coffee AND orange juice, scrambled eggs, 2 pieces of ham, toast, sausage, and potato puffs.
And I must say that I enjoyed the TCC breakfast experience more than expected. The scrambled eggs were generous, the ham and sausage tasted great, the toast went well with the strawberry jam, the coffee was very fragrant (it's from TCC, they had better serve good coffee), the orange juice had lots of pulp, and you could never go wrong with potato puffs which were actually tiny round hashbrowns. The cool aircon, the sofa and I.S magazine also went into making it a nice leisurely breakfast. Although it costs more than breakfast at McDonald's, it was worth it; McDonald's coffee has always tasted like longkang chwee anyway, and they don't have sofas.

Then it was on to Brokeback Mountain after breakfast. A worthwhile film. The sight of 2 men embracing on screen brought back to mind the equally controversial film, Kinsey.

Could hardly believe my eyes (and ears) when local rock band The Suns appeared on stage today during assembly and played a rousing rollicking set!
I wondered if anyone in school knew that The Suns is actually the notorious band formerly known as The Boredphucks.
Thankfully and of course, no vulgarities were spouted, just solid rock numbers, although vocalist Sans Singer did start off with an 'announcement' that the Principal, Vice Principal and Discipline Master have just been fired, and that HE is now the P, the bassist the VP, and the drummer, the DM.
Hehehe...

His & Hers watches:

Side note: I don't think I will ever be tired of watching my DVD of 'Lost In Translation' again and again. It's great to see Tokyo/Japan immortalised beautifully on DVD; what a fantastic soundtrack too. I MUST make a second trip there.

Saw Laura at church again today. Laura is this kid in Junior Sunday School, who has a little sister called Myra. Myra is the most adorable little girl ever, but extremely unsociable and shy... everytime I smile at her, she'd hide behind her mum.
Unlike Myra, Laura is friendlier, and she actually said hi to me when she saw me. So as usual, I asked her where's Myra... Then Myra appeared, and the moment she saw me, her expression changed. I thought Myra would just flee from my presence as usual, but wonders of wonders, she ACTUALLY came to me and said unhappily, "Will you stop talking about me?" (This is the first time I've seen her open her mouth)

I asked her why.

She said unhappily, "Because you are very scary,"

I asked her why.

And she said unhappily, "Because of your moustache."

The epic 4-day Chinese New Year holiday has come to an end.
Not surprisingly, I ate too much again over this period (bak kwa, especially).
Beef steamboat at grand-aunt's place was great as usual.

As society becomes more self-centred, it's no wonder that more families are 'escaping' the Chinese New Year by making overseas trips, so they don't have to endure long and boring visits to relatives whom they only see once a year. So much for customs and traditions.

What was on my wrist during the first day of CNY: Cartier Santos 100 chronograph.
